OUR CHAIRMAN
Mr. Simon Tay is Chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA).
Mr. Tay serves as Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Greece and is a Board Member of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. His previous public service appointments include Chairman of the National Environment Agency, Eminent Person to the ASEAN Regional Forum and Independent Member of Parliament. In 2025, he received the President’s Award for the Environment, Singapore’s highest environmental honour, in recognition of his longstanding contributions to environmental sustainability.
He is Senior Consultant at WongPartnership and a Director of Certis Group. His previous appointments include Corporate Adviser to Temasek Holdings and board positions with global companies including MUFG Bank, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Deutsche Börse Asia.
Mr. Tay is an Honorary Fellow at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He has taught at the NUS Faculty of Law, Harvard Law School, Yale University, and The Fletcher School at Tufts University. He is the author of several books on international law, ASEAN and global affairs, most recently Island in the World: Singapore’s Geopolitical DNA (2025), which explores Singapore’s place in a changing global order.
