The situation in Myanmar remains tense. On 23 February 2021, Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, said in an interview with Channel NewsAsia, “The role of outsiders, honestly, is very limited. The sanctions can certainly tell the military what they have done is not legitimate but they have little effect.
