As an advertisement for the strength of US-Singapore ties, the past few days are perhaps without parallel.

Singapore Institute of International Affairs Chairman Simon Tay said the relationship goes beyond who is currently occupying the Oval Office: “For the relationship to endure, it is not just the president – though presidents are important – it is the whole establishment of America.”

He made the comment in an article by Jeremy Au Yong, The Straits Times US Bureau Chief in Washington, published in The Straits Times on 5 Aug 2016.
