It has been two weeks since Singaporeans went to the polls. Singapore’s 13th General Elections saw the People’s Action Party (PAP) winning a clear mandate with 83 seats in Parliament, and the Workers’ Party (WP) taking 10 seats. At our recent webinar, “What’s next after GE2020? Post-Election Directions for Singapore”, we spoke with three former Nominated Members of Parliament (NMPs), Associate Professor Eugene Tan (Associate Professor of Law, Singapore Management University), Mr Zulkifli Baharudin (Managing Director, Global Business Integrators) and Ms Kuik Shiao-Yin (Co-Founding Director, The Thought Collective) about the changing political landscape in Singapore, some of the key social issues that Singapore is likely to address going forward, the economic implications of the results and what the new government priorities will be in the next term. The session was moderated by Mr Nicholas Fang (Director of Security and Global Affairs, SIIA) who also served as an NMP from 2012 to 2014.
