It has been more than a year since the military takeover in Myanmar and the situation remains fraught. The National Unity Government, Myanmar’s shadow government, said it is seeking out various legal channels, including the International Criminal Court (ICC), to address the crimes the committed. Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, told Channel NewsAsia, “The NUG right now doesn’t have enough people recognising it as Myanmar’s government to go through the legal process of accepting ICC.”
