SIIA Chairman Mr Simon Tay spoke to CNA on the significance of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s State Visit to Tanzania, the first by a Singapore President.
Mr Tay noted that the visit reflected Singapore’s growing engagement with Africa and highlighted opportunities to deepen economic and trade cooperation in areas such as logistics, digitalization, sustainability, and urban development.
“We are going through a tremendous period of turmoil. Reaching out to more partners is necessary,” Mr Tay told CNA. “We have to sow many seeds and some will grow.”
