The European Union and ASEAN have a long history of close cooperation, with the two blocs becoming dialogue partners in 1977 and the relationship strengthening to Strategic Partners in 2020. Ms. Jessica Wa’u, Deputy Director (ASEAN) at the SIIA spoke at the “Facilitating Multilateralism: EU-Cambodian ASEAN Dialogue” conference organised by the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace that was held on Tuesday, 12 October 2021.

She shared about the state of play of EU-ASEAN cooperation, in terms of economic and security cooperation, sustainable connectivity and sustainable development, as well as the challenges to multilateralism.
