The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of digital technology in ASEAN, a trend that is unlikely to reverse. Jessica Wa’u, Deputy Director (ASEAN) from the SIIA, spoke at the first EU-ASEAN digital expert roundtable organised by the Clingendael, Netherlands Institute of International Relations and the Cambodian Institute for Cooperation and Peace. Ms. Wa’u shared about the “digital divide” in ASEAN and ASEAN’s needs for digitalisation in the context of COVID-19 and competition among great powers.
