Singapore, Wednesday, 30 March 2023: Individuals Posing as SIIA Staff

It has come to our attention that there are individuals posing as researchers employed by the Institute on their social media profiles on platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook. It has been reported in the media that these individuals have reached out to overseas journalists and think-tanks purporting to offer collaborations with the SIIA. These messages may come with offers of payment to comment on strategic international relations issues.

The SIIA wishes to clarify that the Institute does not convey official correspondence over social media platforms, especially with those with whom we have no prior relationship. As a globally ranked think-tank, the SIIA corresponds directly with our network and partners.

The SIIA takes the issue of fraud very seriously. We urge everyone to remain vigilant against such suspicious communications. Even before media reports were published, the Institute had reported the incidents to the social media platforms. We will continue to actively monitor against such fake profiles, and seek responses from social media platforms to remove any such profiles identified.

Anyone who has received questionable and dubious communication from someone claiming to be a representative of the SIIA may contact us immediately at media@siiaonline.org or reach out to us at +65 6734 9600.
