One year on from the military takeover, how is Myanmar faring? Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, spoke to CNA’s Asia First on the challenges and the path ahead. “The situation is quite dismal. It’s unstable and there really doesn’t seem to be clear paths forward, with neither sides really showing the willingness to make concessions and come to some sort of degree of settlement. So its been a tough year and I’m afraid it might get tougher- not just politically but also for the economy and social stability,“ Prof. Tay said.
