The SIIA held the final New Horizons series roundtable discussion. The series has brought business leaders together to discuss ASEAN’s recovery as well as the key markets and sectors that hold opportunities for Singapore. The series culminated in a discussion on reconnecting Singapore as a hub.

Joining the session was Mr. Desmond Lee, Co-Chair, Emerging Stronger Taskforce, Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services, where he commented on the economic shifts caused by COVID-19, and the early efforts of the industry alliance for action created by the Emerging Stronger Taskforce (EST). The subsequent roundtable discussion addressed a wide range of topics, including labour issues, digitisation, and the need to strengthen the various aspects of Singapore hub status – from manufacturing to finance – as a holistic ecosystem.

The New Horizons series was started by the SIIA to support the Emerging Stronger Taskforce (EST). As knowledge partner of the EST, the SIIA convened a series of closed door roundtable dialogue sessions involving business leaders from different industries to examine the future of Singapore’s economy and identify opportunities for growth.
