Vietnam rose to the challenge this year as ASEAN’s chair in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. True to the theme “responsive and cohesive”, it managed to bring ASEAN members together through various virtual summits. The SIIA, in partnership with the National Youth Council (NYC), organised the “Vietnam: Handling COVID-19, the ASEAN Chairmanship and Future Expectations” for over 160 youths. Dr Nguyen Tuan Anh, Head, Department of Social and Economic Affairs, Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Ms. Sylvia Nguyen (Ngọc Mỹ), CEO of Alphanam Real Estate JSC, Member of Board of Vietnam Business Coalition for Women’s Empowerment, spoke about Vietnam’s handling of COVID-19, the highlights for ASEAN this year with Vietnam as chair and the future expectations for Vietnam.

The webinar is part of the Asia-Ready Programme (AEP), an initiative that equips youths with knowledge about our region and more importantly how they can tap on the opportunities in the region amidst the uncertain economic landscape. As knowledge partner to the AEP, the SIIA supports the NYC with content and curation of webinar topics for the youths.
