Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, was invited to speak at a COP26 side event held by Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), UK Research and Innovation Global Challenges Research Fund Trade, Development, the Environment Hub (UKRI GCRF TRADE Hub), and the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC).

Speaking at the panel, “Sustainable Trade and Peatland Management for Emissions Reduction and Community Livelihoods”, Prof Tay spoke about the importance of carbon trading and markets to overall emissions reduction efforts.

The hybrid event was held on 10 November 2021 both at the COP26 Indonesian Pavillion in Jakarta and virtually.
