Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga spoke about Japan’s support for ASEAN countries’ endeavours to strengthen mutual connectivity within the region in his maiden visit to Vietnam as Prime Minister. This message was reiterated by H.E. Mr. Jun Yamazaki, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, during the “Financing Quality Infrastructure in ASEAN” webinar held by the SIIA. The webinar was organised with the support of the Embassy of Japan.

Dr. Masahiro Kawai, Representative Director and Director-General, Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA); Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo, and Dr. Fumiharu Mieno, Professor, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University, provided analysis on the Japanese government’s commitment to quality infrastructure and the country’s support for infrastructure investment needs in ASEAN. Ms. Audra Low, CEO, Clifford Capital lent her perspective from the private sector and highlighted the role of private financers in supporting and driving adoption towards more sustainable infrastructure projects.
