The COVID-19 outbreak has conjured memories of the 2003 SARS crisis. However, the economic contexts in which the outbreaks occurred are significantly different, particularly with China occupying a more central role in the global economy in the case of COVID-19. The global economy bounced back relatively quickly from SARS. Can it do so again?
