The ASEAN Summit concluded on 28 October 2021, with ASEAN leaders proceeding without Myanmar. Held virtually, ASEAN leaders continued to address the impacts of COVIDー19 with the rise of new variants, its community building efforts and the future direction of ASEAN. In an interview with Nikkei, Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, shared how “ASEAN is at a turning point in its potential”.
