In an interview with BBC, Associate Professor Simon Tay, Chairman of the SIIA, said, “Few, even in the military, wish to return to the decades when the country was mired by autocracy, economic sanctions and mass poverty. But Myanmar’s opening and transition are far from complete – and the military will do what they feel they must.”
