A state of emergency was declared by the Malaysian King on 12 January 2021. What impact does the re-imposition of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and state of emergency have on youths in Malaysia?

The SIIA, in partnership with the National Youth Council Singapore(NYC), organised the “Malaysia: Tackling COVID-19, politics and opportunities for youth” for over 70 youths. Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Malaysian politician and activist, and Soh Yi Da, ASEAN Youth Fellow and VP (Investor Relations) at UOB, spoke about the pandemic, Malaysia-Singapore bilateral relations and the growing involvement of youths in politics.

The webinar is part of the Asia-Ready Programme (AEP), an initiative that equips youths with knowledge about our region and more importantly how they can tap on the opportunities in the region amidst the uncertain economic landscape. As knowledge partner to the AEP, the SIIA supports the NYC with content and curation of webinar topics for the youths.
